Compounded Diclofenac PLO
COMMON USES
Diclofenac is in the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug class (NSAID). It has pain relieving and anti-inflammatory properties. These compounds are used to relieve pain and/or inflammation. These compounds are essentially stronger versions of over the counter Voltaren Gel. Strengths from 4-12% are commonly used. Arthritis and acute injury are common reasons for prescribing. These medications have low systemic absorption and are generally safe for most people, check with your pharmacist to ensure this product is right for you and what other medication you can take with it.
HOW TO USE THE MEDICATION
These products are intended for topical use only. Do not ingest, and avoid contact with the eyes, ears, mouth, nose and anal-gential region unless directed to.
Wash your hands and ensure that the area is clean and free of debris.
Rub the compound on the affected area(s) gently until the compound is absorbed. The compound may leave a residue.
Wash your hands after application (unless it is directed for use on the hands).
Do not wash the area off or shower for 1 hour after application to allow complete absorption.
Do not cover or use heating or cooling treatments such as heating pads or ice packs unless directed to by your prescriber as this changes the absorption of the medication.
These medications are typically used 2-4 times a day. Use as directed by your prescriber.
POSSIBLE ADVERSE AND SIDE EFFECTS
These products are typically well tolerated. Any topical product may cause some irritation to the skin. If severe irritation occurs, wash the product off with water.
STORAGE REQUIREMENTS
Store at room temperature.
Beyond use date (BUD) is 6 months. Refer to the date indicated on your prescription.
